About me
Deborah CM Boyle MD FRCOG DFSRH
I am a consultant gynaecologist at the Royal Free Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London where I was appointed in 2008 and now form part of the largest specialist vulval clinic service in the UK.
I qualified in 1991 from Sheffield University and subsequently moved to London to undertake all of my postgraduate training and research.
In 2000 I was awarded my MD Thesis (‘Does BV Cause CIN?’) for the study of the relationship between the vaginal microbiome and the development of abnormal cervical cells (smear tests).
Following the completion of specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology, I further specialised in gynae diagnostics, particularly the investigation and management of abnormal smear tests. I also specialised in the area of vulval skin problems and other vulval disorders.
I see women (and children) of all ages with my youngest patient, to date, being 3 years old and the eldest 97 years with all ages in between. I see a large number of women per year whose main concern is painful sex.
As well as the highly specialised areas of gynaecology in which I practice, I see women with other gynaecological concerns including problem periods, contraception, menopause and those wishing general gynae check ups and screening.
I love what I do and find it hugely rewarding to be able to cure or, at least, substantially improve quality of life for so many women. I adopt a whole person approach and work with an excellent extended team including specialist physiotherapists, other medical specialities as needed, pain coach and complementary therapists when appropriate without whose valuable input many of my patients would not have been made well again.
If you are having problems and wish to come and discuss with me then please feel free to contact me. I would be delighted to see you.
